Transfer Timeline

 

Situation

Timeline

New student enters school with IEP

  • Comparable services begin immediately.
  • 10 calendar days to complete transfer paperwork and determine whether IEP is adopted or needs to be amended.

New student enters and parents report there is an IEP but do not have a copy

  • Contact previous district of residence
  • Child Find obligations apply if you suspect a disability
  • If receive no paperwork within 15 days and disability is suspected begin an Initial Evaluation

Transfer Student from Out of state did not Adopt Eligibility

  • Develop PNCE
  • 60 Calendar Days from consent for evaluation received at school, evaluation and eligibility determination must be held.
  • IEP should be developed no later than 90 days after signed consent for evaluation was received.

Transfer Out of State and Accept Eligibility and IEP

  • Comparable services begin immediately.
  • 10 calendar days to complete transfer paperwork

Transfer student from In State and did not Adopt IEP

  • 30 Calendar Days from date the transfer was completed to develop and hold IEP meeting

Transfer student from In State and did Adopt the IEP

  • Comparable services begin immediately.
  • 10 calendar days to complete transfer paperwork .

Student Enrolls Expired IEP but Eligibility is still Valid

  • Comparable services begin immediately.
  • Complete transfer and Do not Accept IEP
  • Within 30 days develop new IEP

Student Enrolls and BOTH IEP and Eligibility are Expired

  • Comparable services begin immediately.
  • Complete transfer and Do Not Accept IEP or Eligibility
  • Obtain Permission for Assessment for an Initial
